The Craftivist Quilt of the 2024 World Congress

The craftivist quilt created during the World Congress of Environmental History 2024 now hangs in the University of Oulu’s Linnanmaa Campus as a vibrant and tangible reminder of the shared commitments and creative energy that defined the congress. Conceived as a participatory and collaborative project, the quilt brought together contributions from attendees across the globe, each patch telling a unique environmental story. Its display ensures that the themes of care, community, and climate awareness that shaped WCEH 2024 continue to resonate beyond the event itself—a lasting memoir of the conversations and connections sparked in Oulu.

ICEHO is very grateful to Britta Fluevog, Verena Winiwarter, Anna Svensson, and Scott Braun who together organized the craftivist project, as well as to everyone who contributed to the quilt.
